The Massachusetts Parole Preparation Partnership helps people serving life sentences, with the possibility of parole, obtain parole and live successfully in the community upon release.
MPPP believes that each of us is more than the worst thing we've ever done, and that no one should be reduced to their worst acts. We believe that every person deserves to be treated with openness, dignity, and respect. At its essence, MPPP endeavors to work collaboratively, nurturing the hope and humanity in every individual.
MPPP works in collaboration with the Massachusetts Department of Correction and the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security in effort to achieve MPPP’s mission of supporting incarcerated people who need assistance preparing for their parole hearings and with re-entry.
Empowering Change, Embracing Reentry
MPPP depends on volunteers for our model to work. Our volunteers, called Partners, share one thing in common: a desire to help people obtain parole and support them upon release. Partners do not have to have a legal background – most Partners don’t. Some of our current Partners work as 911 operators, teachers, research analysts, development and communications associates, and others are retired.
Partners collaborate with parole petitioners to help each individual prepare to present their case to the Parole Board, and Partners will remain connected with people on parole as they re-enter the community. This partnership will provide critical support to people returning from prison and decrease recidivism.
